Migrate Critical Pharmacy Systems Without Disrupting Patient Care
CAREPATHrx was running critical pharmacy and patient management systems on aging on-premises infrastructure. The environment was difficult to scale, expensive to maintain, and increasingly at risk of hardware failure. Leadership needed to migrate to the cloud quickly — without disrupting pharmacy operations or patient care.
Without action, the organization faced growing risk of hardware failure impacting patient care continuity, rising maintenance costs with no path to modernization, and an inability to scale capacity to meet business growth.
Partner Solution
Phased Migration with a Governed AWS Landing Zone
Atayo executed a phased migration using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) to lift and shift CAREPATHrx's core workloads to AWS with minimal downtime. Simultaneously, we established an AWS Control Tower landing zone to give the organization a secure, governed multi-account foundation.
The engagement included:
- Discovery and wave planning to sequence workloads by criticality and dependency
- AWS Application Migration Service for automated server replication and cutover
- Amazon RDS migration for database workloads with minimal downtime
- AWS Control Tower landing zone for governance and account structure
- AWS Backup for automated, policy-driven backup across all workloads
- Amazon CloudWatch dashboards and alerting for operational visibility
Following the initial migration, Atayo transitioned CAREPATHrx to our Managed Infrastructure Services practice for ongoing 24/7 operations, monitoring, and support.
